Effective Date: December 17, 2012
Expiration Date: December 16, 2014
Estimated Completion Time:1 hour
Fee:Free

Program Summary:

Dr. Maki, discusses the principles of contrast-enhanced MRA, from pulse sequence tips to SNR optimization to contrast utilization (including new vascular indications for Gd contrast agents, blood pool/steady state imaging, and novel concepts about how to dose Gd contrast for MRA).
In addition, Dr. Maki will introduce newer techniques such as time-resolved MRA, large coil configurations, MRA at 3T, non-contrast MRA, and techniques for perfecting peripheral MRA, including timing algorithms and venous compression. This presentation will highlight multiple peer-reviewed studies comparing different contrast agents for MRA, and will include many practical tips to improve your body MRA protocols.

Target Audience:

  • Radiologists
  • Related Imaging Professionals

Program Information:

This program was originally broadcast live as part of a Webinar series sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Medical Education.

This program has been supported through an unrestricted educational grant from Bracco Diagnostics, Inc.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity participants will have an overview of:

  1. Performing 3D CE-MRA in the abdominal aorta, renal and peripheral arteries
  2. Competing relationship between SNR, image resolution, and acquisition speed as it relates to CE-MRA
  3. Special technical challenges inherent to peripheral CE-MRA
  4. Improved understanding of available gadolinium-based contrast agents and their differences as applied to CE-MRA
  5. Familiarity with time resolved MRA techniques, and when they can be useful
