Episode 5: MRI of the Liver and Bowel Disease

Program Summary:
In this session, Dr. Semelka demonstrates the hallmark enhancement pattern of liver metastases, which is ring enhancement through several different case presentations.
Case 1: Ovarian Cancer & Lung Metastasis. Illustration of ovarian cancer with liver metastases.

Case 2: Liver Metastasis & Chest Wall Metastasis. Illustration of liver metastases from colon cancer post RF ablation and chest wall metastasis. The ability of MRI to evaluate the full extent of disease is emphasized.
Case 3: Crohn's Diesease. MRI enterography is described, and illustration is made of this technique showing inflammatory bowel disease and discussing differential diagnoses
Case 4: Renal Stones in Pregnancy. MRI in pregnancy is discussed, often to rule out acute appendicitis.
Case 5: Liver Metastasis. Illustration of cancer of the glottis, where PET scans showing increased uptake in the liver. The MRI appearance of liver metastases is described.
Case 6: Recurrent Renal Cancer. Patient has a history of rectal cancer, and discussion is made of evaluating for recurrent tumor.
Case 7: Peliosis Hepatitis. This is a 34 year-old-woman with peliosis hepatis and multiple adenoma syndrome. Differential diagnosis is discussed.
Case 8: Hepatocellular Carcinoma (post treatment).This patient has hepatitis C cirrhosis; description is made of evaluating for HCC.
